"Think Outside the Bucket"

As we are heading down the last few weeks of fundraising I’m sure you may be feeling like you have asked everyone you have ever met for a donation and perhaps your donation base is just tapped out. But there are still some ways that you can add that extra $100, $500 or even $1,000 to that fundraising team total so don’t give up!
  1. Change your signature block – this seems pretty simple, but just by changing my signature block to include a link for my Team’s page and a link to my blog I got an extra $150 donated to my Team that I might not have received. This is not only a great way to fundraise; it’s also a great way to spread awareness.
  2. Bake Sale – hold a bake sale at your child’s school, daycare or even at your office. Ask team members to bake cookies, cupcakes or other items. Split them up into bags and sell for $3 each or more. Small amounts really add up and people LOVE baked goods.
  3. Contact a Local Restaurant to donate a percentage of their sales to your team. Try to find restaurants who will donate between 15% and 20% to make it worth your while. Advertise your “Team’s” night using social media and make flyers to post at your school, gym, office etc. This is a great way to add at least $100 without much effort.
  4. Garage Sale – this has been mentioned in a previous post, but it’s a good one to mention. Most people have tons of items lying around just waiting to be donated. All it takes is a little elbow grease for sorting and tagging and posting about your sale on Craig’s list and via social media. You’ll be racking up the donations in no time.
  5. Partner with a friend who sells, Pampered Chef, Sentsy, Face Products, Jewelry, Kids Clothing (whatever) and as him/her if you hosted a party for them if they would donate a portion of their commission to your March for Babies Team. Most people will like the tax write off for the donation and it also allows them to reach more people with their business by being able to sell to your friends. It’s a win win.
  6. Blue Jeans for Babies – This is a great one too. You ask your child’s school or your office to donate $5+ in order to be able to wear jeans to work. If you have casual Friday at your office, plan it for mid-week. Ask your manager or principle if he/she would match whatever is raised. This can add up quickly! Be sure to contact the MOD office for your ‘Blue Jeans for Babies’ stickers to hand out to those who participate.

Sometimes fundraising is difficult, but take comfort in knowing that every single dollar that you add to your total gets the March of Dimes one step closer to saving a life, through research, community outreach and advocacy. And if we can save even one life, it will all be worth it! Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Amanda
